Q. Who can join live communities?
A. Anyone can join Chatroll live communities. No signup is required. Guests simply enter an alias to participate.
Q. What is "My Chatroll"?
A. Your Chatroll is a list of all live communities you are a member of. It can be accessed using the "My Chatroll" button (the button with the Chatroll logo) at the bottom right of any page, as well as on your profile page. You can use this list to quickly navigate between all your communities.
Q. How do I use "My Chatroll"?
A. Each live community in your Chatroll can be clicked to bring it into focus, just like how you would switch between applications in Windows or Mac OS. This way, you can participate in multiple communities at the same time.
Q. What is the best way to use Chatroll?
A. Chatroll is designed to be used the same way you would use an IM application. Keep Chatroll open in a browser tab while you continue working or surfing other sites. Chatroll will automatically display live notifications for all your live communities via your browser's tab title. This way, you can be notified of any activity even when the Chatroll tab is inactive or your browser is minimized.
Q. What browser do you recommend?
A. We recommend you use a browser with tabs, like Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, or Safari. Keep Chatroll open in one tab while you continue using other sites in other tabs.
Q. How do I get notifications when Chatroll is not visible?
A. If you are using Windows and your browser is minimized, you can watch the taskbar item. If you are using a tabbed browser like Firefox or Internet Explorer 7, you can watch the tab title. When you receive new messages, the title will show a notification. For example, "(2)" indicates you have 2 new messages waiting.
Q. How do I turn the sound on/off?
A. You can turn sound notifications on or off by clicking the speaker icon at the top right of any page.
Q. How do I change my alias?
A. You can change your alias by sending a request to
Chatroll Support. Please provide your current alias and the new one you want to change to. User names must only contain letters, numbers, dash or underscore. (No spaces or other punctuation.)
Q. How do I close my account?

Chatroll Support using the email address associated with your Chatroll account.
Q. What do you consider as spam and spamming?
A. As a rule of thumb, any unsolicited promotion or advertising that is posted in any the Chatroll community is considered spam. This is especially so, when such posts are off topic and with the sole intention of soliciting other users.
Spam degrades community member's experience and community integrity. As such, we take a firm stance against it and will remove any content deemed as spam.
Q. I forgot my password, what do I do?
A. Go to the
signin page and click the "Forgot your password?" link, and follow the instructions.
Q. I only see new chat messages when I refresh my browser. Is this normal?
A. Chat messages should show up immediately, without refreshing your browser. If you do not see live updates, please check your firewall software settings (e.g., Avast!) or any browser plugins that may potentially interfere. (e.g., Adblock Filterset). If the problem still persists, please contact Chatroll Support via the
support page.
Q. I have ideas to make Chatroll better, how do I make suggestions?
